We’re as happy as a spoon in grits to announce that our work was honored with two of the five trophies presented at the 2010 MARCE Awards. The MARCEs are presented each year at the On Hold Messaging Association’s annual conference, held March 20th in San Diego this year.

We received the only two Judge’s Choice awards for our work on behalf of Amazing Space and Discount Parts Exchange. Through BusinessVoice, I wrote the copy and served as voice talent on both productions. Amy provided voice talent on Amazing Space.

Listen to the Amazing Space production here.

Listen to the Discount Parts Exchange production here.

The Judges’ Comments

“The on hold messaging for Discount Parts Exchange has a great mix of humor and relevant information. Even though I have never had any contact with Discount Parts Exchange, I already have a positive image of them. Their production creates an image of a friendly and helpful organization. The voice talent is excellent and seems to be a great fit for their target audience. The messages are short and intermixed with music so that they do not overwhelm the listener. I wouldn’t mind being on hold with this production.” - Mike Kurtz / University of Dayton’s Media Production Group

“Love the [Amazing Space] concept. On the surface it seems like normal, everyday on hold messaging, but what the voiceover is saying is VERY different. Great idea!” - Dave Savage / Station Branding Manager for Clear Channel Radio

1) Herbert Hoover approved “The Star-Spangled Banner” as the national anthem, even though he actually preferred the song “Gangsta’s Paradise” by Coolio.

2) In the late 1870s, President Rutheford B. Hayes tried to set a good example for the country by banishing liquor and wine from the White House. He was later labeled a hypocrite after inventing the crack pipe.

3) William Howard Taft was the first President to assume a “lower” position after leaving the White House when he became Chief Justice of the Supreme Court. Taft’s distinction stood until Lyndon Johnson left office to take a part-time gig at the Shoney’s Big Boy in Brownsville, Texas.

5) James Madison was our shortest and lightest president. However, at 11 pound 3 ounces, he still holds the White House record for heaviest genitals.
